February 4, 2025 – On January 20, 2025, CMS released the benchmarks that it will use to assess clinician performance on quality measures under MIPS in 2025.
CMS will use these benchmarks to determine how many points a clinician will receive for each quality measure reported. Those points contribute to a clinician’s final MIPS score, which will translate into a Medicare Part B payment adjustment in 2027.
As a reminder, the maximum penalty for the 2025 performance year/2027 payment year is -9%. It is important to review the MIPS measure inventory and benchmarks since they often change from year to year. A searchable 2025 MIPS measure tool is available here, including a filter function that will list measures relevant to “Electrophysiology Cardiac Specialists.”
Benchmark files for the 2025 MIPS performance year are available online.
